Home sharing is opening your home and life to a person with diverse abilities. Many persons served desire more independence than can be afforded in a residential group setting, but are not yet (or perhaps ever), ready to live entirely on their own. Home sharing provides that independent lifestyle while also meeting the personal needs of the individual. In partnership with independent service providers, Kindale helps to supervise, support and monitor persons served in home share arrangements, and additional support is made available through day programs, recreation opportunities, work readiness, and many other Kindale programs.
Home share arrangements vary and may include one or more persons served living with a caregiver either in a home owned by the caregiver or by the person served, or in a rental accommodation. Home share placements are always based on the needs and safety of the individual.
Kindale has Home Share Coordinators on staff to provide support to Home Share Providers as well as to persons served in communities throughout the North Okanagan and Shuswap regions.

Basic Requirements of a Homeshare Provider
- Minimum age 19 years
- Satisfactory Home Study
- Criminal Record Check
- Satisfactory References and Background Check
- Valid First Aid/CPR
- Physician’s Certificate of Good Health
- Valid Driver’s License
- Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
